AnchorPrivacy policy
The short version: what you put into Anchor stays on your iPhone. We run no servers for the app, so we never receive it. One optional feature, Ask Claude, sends what you type to Anthropic when you choose to use it.
What Anchor stores, and where
Anchor keeps the following on your device, in the app's own storage:
- Medications, schedules and the doses you log
- The check-ins and notes you add after a dose
- Routines, checklists, calendar events, thoughts and medical journal entries
- Your Ask Claude conversations, if you use that feature
- Locations you save, and any Bluetooth beacons you add
- Your settings
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. Anchor has no accounts and we operate no server that receives your data. If your iPhone is included in an iCloud or computer backup, the app's data is part of that backup under your Apple account, on Apple's terms.
Location and Bluetooth
If you allow it, Anchor uses your location and nearby Bluetooth beacons to work out whether you are at a place you saved, such as home, so it can show a checklist when you leave. This is worked out on your phone using Apple's location services. Your location is not sent to us and Anchor keeps no history of where you have been.
Notifications and voice
Reminders are scheduled on your device. The morning brief is read aloud by a voice already on your iPhone. Neither involves sending anything off the device.
Checking for updates
Anchor asks Apple's App Store whether a newer version is available. That request contains the app's identifier and nothing about you or what you have entered.
Ask Claude (optional)
Ask Claude is off until you set it up with your own Anthropic API key. The key is stored in your iPhone's keychain. When you send a message, Anchor sends the following directly from your phone to Anthropic:
- the message you typed and the recent messages in that conversation
- details from the screen you opened it from, such as the items in a thought list or the title, date and notes of a calendar event
We do not receive or see any of it. Anthropic handles it under its own terms and privacy policy, as part of your account with them. If you never set up Ask Claude, nothing is sent.
Purchases
If Anchor offers a subscription, payment is handled by Apple through your Apple account. We do not receive your name, payment details or address.
What we don't do
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No selling or sharing of data, because we don't have any
Deleting your data
You can delete individual records, or everything of one kind, under Settings in the app. Deleting Anchor from your iPhone removes all of its data from the device. To remove an Anthropic API key, use Remove API Key in the Ask Claude settings.
Children
Anchor is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Not medical advice
Anchor helps you keep track of what you and your doctor have decided. It does not give medical advice and is not a substitute for a doctor or pharmacist.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If a future version of Anchor starts sending any data off your device, this page will say so before that version is released.
